Classical Ballet - Recreational and Examination/Extension
We often talk about ballet being our vegetables and our foundation... because it is exactly that! Classical Ballet is the foundation of all other dance styles and we recommend all students enrol in a classical ballet class. Technique, discipline, focus, strength, flexibility, posture are all just some of the things taught and learnt during our classes. The earlier ballet training is started the more beneficial it is for the dancer.
We have recreational and examination/extension ballet classes available. Our examination classes learn the Borovansky syllabus from the Australian Institute of Classical Dance. Our examination students move up grades by passing examinations. Once a student is in Grade 2 ballet it is compulsory they attend 3 ballet classes per week, being their current grade, the grade up and then a classical coaching class suitable for their level.
All EPP students must attend Classical Coaching as a minimum requirement for the EPP program.
Contemporary & Lyrical - Recreational and Examination/Extension
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including lyrical, modern, jazz and classical ballet. Contemporary dance strives to connect the mind and body through fluid dance movements, strong shapes, use of body and floor work.
Students enrolled in the extension/examination contemporary class must also attend classical coaching.
Jazz - Recreational and Examination/Extension
Jazz is a high energy, fast paced dance style that incorporates body isolations, turns, kicks and jumps. Jazz can range from broadway style all the way through to commercial dance. It is quite a technical genre teaching strength, flexibility and stamina.
We have recreational and examination/extension jazz classes available. Our examination classes learn the Jazz Moves syllabus from the Australian Teachers of Dancing. Our examination students move up grades by passing examinations.
All jazz examination students must attend classical coaching or a ballet class for their level.
Tap - Recreational and Examination/Extension
Tap is an energetic dance style teaching students all about beats, rhythm and musicality. Students learn a full range of tapping steps as well as combinations and choreography.
We have recreational and examination/extension tap classes available. Our examination classes learn the Tap syllabus from the Australian Teachers of Dancing. Our examination students move up grades by passing examinations.
All tap examination students must attend classical coaching or a ballet class for their level.
Hip Hop - Recreational and Dengance Crew (invitation only)
One of today’s most popular styles of dance. Upbeat, fast, energetic movements to popular music incorporating all genres of Hip Hop dance. Our Hip Hop dance classes are very popular!
Acrobatics (flexibility, strength and tumbling) - Recreational and Extension
Acrobatics classes consist of strength and flexibility work as well as a tumbling component. Perfect for those strong dancers who love being upside down or those hyper-mobile dancers who need to increase strength.
Musical Theatre - Recreational and Extension
An acting and singing technique class, which compliments our students dance training, ensuring a versatile dancer. Beginner students must commence in the beginner class and from here students are grouped in classes by ability, not age. Students may also be selected for an individual singing lesson if showing potential.
